Amidst the panic-buying that occured at every supermarket, most of Singapore’s silver generation had no means of getting their own supply of masks and sanitisers. However, their plight did not go unnoticed. #SGStrong recipient, Delane Lim, led Operation Hands On (#OpsHandsOn) to help elderly in that predicament.

“This is my philosophy of being an ‘Upstander’- We saw a need, so we stood up and filled the need.”
To date, #OpsHandsOn has distributed over 12,000 masks and sanitisers to elderly in rental flats and they have no plans on stopping. They hope to continue reaching an even wider scope, extending their care to frontline personnel like cleaners and security guards working at heartland malls and hawker centers. Hoping to distribute at least 2,000 care kits to these workers, Delane and his team really want to show that even in crisis, Singaporeans should band together.

“The most rewarding experience is to see people coming together to pay it forward after seeing what we have initiated. Many people wanted to contribute their resources, time and even money. But the most rewarding experience is when people write to you to thank you for what you have done because they have benefited from our giving”
We hope that his initiative and dream for unity can inspire you to support those affected. Together, we are stronger than COVID-19.
