STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
The nuts and bolts of
social impact are the fundamental pieces that hold the framework of social initiatives together.
Just as a structure relies on its foundational components to hold strong, so too does a stronger ecosystem depend on its people — the donors, bridge-builders and doers supporting and reinforcing the critical work that is being done.
Our vibrant ecosystem of social impact, the individuals and organisations within serve as the critical “nuts and bolts” of change.
STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
THE FOUNDRY
As a philanthropic platform, we want to bring the sector together to build familiarity and seed collaborations to maximise philanthropic impact.
Over the years, we have built a stronger impact ecosystem by convening donors, impact organisations, and partners to spark ideas, and facilitate conversations to elevate the sector through various Majurity flagship initiatives and events.

Figures as at 31 December 2024

STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
A home base for collective impact from the community, by the community, for the community
As a landmark social impact hub, The Foundry is the place that inspires action, enables collaboration, and encourages residents to co-create solutions.
Officially opened by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the ambitious vision was brought to life in under 8 months with the incredible support from our donors, the build team, government, grantee partners, and corporations.

Beyond the physical building, it was also crucial to set up proper legal, digital and operational infrastructures to ensure a functional Foundry. Majurity leveraged our existing networks and collaborated with corporates to thoughtfully build out these processes.

LEGAL INFRASTRUCTURES
Reed Smith x Majurity
Learn more
Reed Smith provided the Majurity team with support when drawing up Foundry membership legal agreements, ensuring that they were written in alignment with Majurity’s organisational values.
The Reed Smith team was also generous with their time, scheduling chats with every resident organisation to walk through the legal agreement, and address any questions our residents had prior to the signing of the agreement.

DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURES
Workato x Majurity
Learn more
To facilitate the ease of space activation for community use, the team leveraged Workato’s experience in automation to digitise some of these processes.
Initiatives include a mobile application that facilitates communication between residents and a space management platform to facilitate room bookings. These allowed for a smoother user experience for Foundry residents.
Concurrently, user data is also collected to better understand user behaviour for future optimisation.

OPERATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURES
Macquarie Group x Majurity
Learn more
With over 100 staff volunteering hours dedicated, Macquarie Group generously shared their experience in community and operational processes, working with the Foundry team to ideate and strategise our community engagement and operational processes – spanning domains such as data management, guest relations and workplace community.
These sessions have been very helpful in building out our community engagement strategy for 2025, through programmes such as Lunch & Learns, and support circles.
We would like to thank our founding donors.

STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
STRENGTHENING THE DONOR ECOSYSTEM
With the growth of family offices and wealth owners, there is immense potential to unlock more resources to meet the increasing social needs on the ground.
Yet, the challenge has always been in bridging this gap — ensuring that capital flows to address the pressing but often unseen needs.
In 2024, we have made significant strides in growing the giving pie, enabling donors to give more and welcoming new philanthropists into the fold, so that more amongst us can thrive.
We remain committed to doing philanthropy differently — helping donors move from intent to impact with greater confidence and clarity.

Growing our Advancement team
Learn more
Thanks to the generous support of GSR Foundation and our Leadership Council members, we have grown our Advancement team in 2024.
This was instrumental in providing us with the resources to strengthen our donor management systems, deepening relationships with those who trust us with their giving.
We’ve raised 23.4M in 2024, a more than 30% increase from the previous year.

Laying the foundations for a more sustainable and strategic philanthropy ecosystem
Learn more
We’ve expanded our philanthropy advisory practice, providing a platform to guide emerging philanthropists and those seeking to refine their giving portfolios.
Together with our expertise in grantmaking and monitoring, evaluation, and learning, these efforts help to lay the foundations for a more sustainable and strategic philanthropy ecosystem.

Connecting the donor community together
Learn more
The Temasek Foundation New Horizon Fund (formerly Lam Soon New Horizon Fund) was started in 2021 with $1.3M in seed funding from the TL Whang Foundation.
Temasek Foundation’s generous donation of $1M in 2024 as our new anchor donor marks an exciting new chapter in our journey to resource new nonprofit startups in Singapore, and we are excited for the fund to be further integrated into the larger government-led ecosystem of groundup support.
We are deeply grateful to TL Whang Foundation for seeding the Fund, and for Temasek Foundation’s belief and generous contribution to our vision as our anchor donor from 2024.

STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
DONOR EDUCATION EVENTS
We continue to convene donors every year at various flagship events, inviting them to learn together with us about the latest developments in the philanthropic sector, and the insights we’ve gained from our work.
These donor education events complement our efforts to strengthen the donor ecosystem, providing donors with learning opportunities to further inform their giving strategies.
Majurity Charity
Invitational 2024
Learn more
The 2024 tournament legs focused on the Wonder Arc Fund and our Thriving Communities Initiative, bringing together over 200 golfers at the championship courses of Sentosa Golf Club and Tanah Merah Country Club.
We educate by designing unique novelty challenges for golfers to step into the shoes of the communities we channel funding to, allowing them to experience the challenges faced by vulnerable communities.
For example, golfers had to tee off with a heavy load on their backs to mimic the worries and burdens vulnerable communities carry on their shoulders.

Leadership Council Annual Meeting
Learn more
The Leadership Council (LC) is a group of visionary philanthropists and donors committed to ensuring that Majurity is able to pursue our goals in meeting unseen needs and go further with every donation.
Last year, we onboarded 6 new members to support our work. Starting off with a coffee brewing session led by our Advancement team at Bettr Academy, we reflected on the need to be intentional in every step of the process in both coffee brewing and philanthropy. LC members were then engaged in an open discussion on trends that excite and worry us, offering insights on how we can adapt and grow to be more effective, responsive and resilient.

Collective Roundtable: More Than A Leg Up
Learn more
We convened a collective of funders eager to learn, both from one another and as a community, about the unseen needs in the education sector. Specifically, we deep dived into the inequity in learning and development opportunities for primary school-aged children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
A key topic of discussion is the widening gap at the PSLE for students on financial assistance, and the data points across other demographic factors. We hypothesised why the inequity has persisted, what changemakers have been doing on the ground and how we could work together to address this gap. Gatherings like such give us hope that we can achieve the change we envision – that no child is left behind.
STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
EXPANSION OF OUR RESEARCH ARM TO FOCUS ON INSIGHTS & STRATEGY

We’ve expanded the Insights & Strategy team that is instrumental in informing our work at Majurity
Learn more
Formerly known as the Research team, the growth of the Insights & Strategy team reflects our commitment to doing philanthropy differently by extending beyond traditional research reporting to use evidence and insights for decision-making and strategy for both our grantee partners and donors to drive positive change in Singapore.
By leveraging a combination of quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methodologies, we hope to better articulate the impact of our philanthropic efforts, and to provide our grantee partners, donors and the sector with a deeper understanding of societal challenges and emerging trends to inform our work.
As part of our commitment to generating insights, we’ll also work to translate data-driven findings into strategic recommendations, guiding our grantee partners and donors in making informed choices that maximise positive outcomes.
STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
THE MAJURITY CONVERSATIONS: SUSSING OUT SUSTAINABILITY
Themed “Sussing out Sustainability”, The Majurity Conversations 2024 brought over 200 social impact leaders, including nonprofits, charities, social impact agencies, funders and government partners together to explore how social impact organisations can confront the question of sustainability, and how we can seed crucial conversations to take social impact organisations forward.
Featuring Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, as our guest of honour, the event also included insightful panel discussions on how we can incorporate sustainability in community building and in fundraising.
STRONGER ECOSYSTEM
GLOBAL NETWORKS: AN ECOSYSTEM THAT TRANSCENDS GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES
As we seek to facilitate greater collaboration across the ecosystem, we are constantly learning from others about how we can curate donor collectives better and to reference best philanthropic practices for adaptation to the Singapore context.

Trip to Dasra, India
Learn more
The team visited Mumbai with the objective of deepening our understanding of innovative approaches to scale impact by engaging with leading organisations in the sector in India.
Our anchor for the trip was Dasra, which has evolved from being a philanthropy fund bridge between NGOs to a leading nonprofit systems orchestrator working with diverse stakeholders across the social impact ecosystem.
By learning from their models, strategies, and frameworks, the trip aimed to uncover collaboration opportunities, best practices, and actionable insights that could inform our own work back home.

Trip to London Funders, UK
Learn more
As the UK was one of the pioneers in starting a social investment market in the mid 2000s, we embarked on a learning journey to London to meet with funders and partners implementing innovative finance strategies in their philanthropy.
We were generously hosted by London Funders, a funder collaborative who like Majurity are 100% focused on building the philanthropic ecosystem in London. They opened many doors for us to better understand the social investment market, including attending discussions such as the Enterprise Grants Taskforce meetings with over 20 London-based funders in attendance.
These discussions enabled us to take away key insights on financing mechanisms to ensure that social investment needs to remain more “social” than “investment”, and how we can apply it to the Singapore context.

Trip to Robin Hood Foundation, USA
Learn more
Since 2018, The Majurity Trust makes an annual visit to Robin Hood Foundation in New York to exchange notes, ideas and learnings on our respective philanthropy work in the city.
A sister organisation to The Majurity Trust, Robin Hood has been the forerunner for collaborative philanthropy that is evidenced-based and focused solely on NYC just as Majurity is focused entirely on Singapore.
In 2024, we also met with organisations like Ford Foundation and Newlab to see how they function behind the scenes and understand their approaches to philanthropy, grantmaking, and research and evaluation.

BETTER ORGANISATIONS
The linchpins of social impact – turning ideas into action
Our grantee partners are the steadfast and essential components of an ecosystem where ideas are born and transformed into concrete actions that create lasting impact. Each are uniquely skilled and essential to bear the weight of societal needs.
Their grit and diligence creates ripples of transformation to build strong and resilient communities that thrive. They are the dreamers and doers whose work is purposeful and deliberate, often done behind the scenes but always vital, just as nuts and bolts are integral to any solid foundation.
BETTER ORGANISATIONS
We provide flexible funding to grantee partners to build their capacity, and go beyond grantmaking to capability build them. Additionally, we bring them together to network, learn, and collaborate with
one another.

T-Ignite: Catalysing the transformative growth of impact enterprises
Learn more
Established by Temasek and administered by Majurity, T-Ignite is a recoverable grant initiative aimed at catalysing the transformative growth of impact enterprises.
T-Ignite offers funding and capability building resources that focus on helping impact enterprises deliver social or environmental impact at scale and empowering them to achieve financial self-sufficiency.

Doing good self-sufficiently and sustainably: Maybank Momentum Grant’s first cohort of grantee partners begins paying-it-forward
Learn more
A first-of-its-kind recyclable grant started in 2021, The Maybank Momentum Grant offered young charities up to $150,000 worth of flexible funding to help them transform.
Over the years, Momentum has evolved to support not just charities who face cashflow challenges stemming from pandemic recovery, but also charities that have aspirations to accelerate and scale their organisation to create a deeper impact.
As at end 2024, the repayment rate of the 1st MMG Cohort (2021) is on track, and stands at 44% of the awarded grants, 1 year into their 3-year repayment window.

Temasek Foundation New Horizon Fund: First cohort of nonprofit startups have completed their 3-year incubation journey
Learn more
In 2024, we welcomed Temasek Foundation as the anchor donor for the New Horizon Fund and are grateful for TL Whang Foundation’s support in kickstarting the Fund.
The first cohort of grantee partners onboarded in 2022 each have strengthened their organisations foundations and experienced growth in staff strength. All of them have attained charity status, and some have attained IPC status as well.
Their growth underscores the potential of nonprofit startup incubation that is possible with flexible multi-year funding and capacity building support.
BETTER ORGANISATIONS
Capability building initiatives
We are invested in our grantee partners beyond the scope of the grant, providing them with strategic guidance and deeper support to further strengthen the impact created together.

Strategic Consultations
Learn more
Our philanthropy team has increased the number of check-in sessions with grantee partners to provide closer support and guidance to them.
At Majurity, we are invested in the success of our grantee partners beyond the scope of the grant.
Apart from advising grantee partners on their challenges, we now leverage on the insights gleaned from conversations with key partners to help shape and refine their organisational and programme strategy to better position themselves in the ecosystem.

A more structured incubation process for nonprofit startups
Learn more
We learnt that new nonprofits struggle to strike a balance between running their day-to-day work and envisioning the long term strategic roadmap to building the foundations of their organisation, and can become easily overwhelmed.
In 2024, we refined our incubation process with more frequent consultations to provide more extensive support and guidance throughout their journey.
We’ve learnt that they often require greater support to manage Board dynamics, and are better equipped to make informed programmatic decisions and effectively communicate their intended impact to potential donors when they have an established impact measurement framework early in their journey.
Accordingly, we extended our Masterclasses to include our grantee partners’ board members, strengthened our collaboration with TalentTrust to provide 1-on-1 management mentorship, and introduced more structured and frequent consultations with The Majurity Trust’s Insights & Strategy team to support our grantee partners in developing their initial impact measurement frameworks.
BETTER ORGANISATIONS
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Support
The Majurity approach to MEL focuses on learning – understanding what worked and what could be improved, using these insights to refine programme and strategy.
Our Insights & Strategy team supports grantee partners with clinic sessions, and have expanded efforts to provide a full suite of in-depth support that is right-sized to meet the needs, capabilities, and resources of grantee partners.

MEL Clinics
Learn more
We offer one-on-one support through evaluation clinics and follow-up consultation sessions. Our work is guided by four principles:
- Tailored: We meet GPs where they are at and collaborate with them, based on their interest, resources, and capabilities.
- Progress: From that starting point, we level up our GPs, at their own pace, through exposure to diverse MEL approaches.
- Fit-for-purpose: Across different evaluation questions and approaches, we align with the GP’s immediate priorities.
- Flexible: We adopt mixed-method approaches (i.e., quantitative and qualitative) to answer key evaluation questions.
Grantee partners improved and elevated their knowledge and approach to MEL from our consultations, and some have also incorporated the learnings and findings to bolster their fundraising efforts.

Research and Evaluation 101 Workshop
Learn more
As the philanthropic sector continues to increase monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) efforts, we recognised that many charities and nonprofits still struggle with the basics of MEL, including the design of a Theory of Change and the translation of the TOC into an MEL plan for their organisation.
To address this gap, we organised a 3 hour learning session for charities and nonprofit organisations, distilling from our experience guiding grantee partners on their evaluation plans to build up the capabilities within the sector.
The three-hour session will cover:
(1) The principles of programme evaluation and M&E; (2) Crafting questions and understanding methodology; and (3) Data-driven planning and strategy.
No. of participating organisations: 29
No. of participants: 31

Community of Practice: Deep Diving into Practice Research
Learn more
The research community within the philanthropic and social sector can be rather siloed. We wanted to bring together practice researchers, evaluation experts, and individual professionals to discuss the best practices and challenges faced with programme evaluation and practice research across the sector, and brainstorm collaborative opportunities between the partners present to strengthen the practice and research evaluation space within the sector.
The three-hour session will cover:
(1) Best practices and challenges in evaluation and practice research; (2) Expanding capabilities; and (3) An open discussion on collaborative resources, opportunities, and partnerships.

Majurity Townhall by Pro Bono SG x Cooley LLP: Legal challenges by early-stage nonprofit grantee partners
Learn more
We hosted early-stage nonprofit grantee partners alongside lawyers from Cooley LLP and Pro Bono SG.
The townhall opened with focus group discussions, where attendees engaged in an open dialogue on their legal needs, questions and challenges.
The intent was to surface these needs and challenges so that the grantee partners, lawyers and Majurity members can cross-learn, with the goal of collaboratively developing resourcing in the future.

THRIVING BENEFICIARIES
Social impact doesn’t just happen. The best of intentions aren’t enough. The nuts and bolts of social impact are in the nitty gritties that often go unrecognised.
Real impact requires attention to details: understanding the intricacies of relationships in the community and individual struggles on the ground.
The dogged determination to secure funding and resources needed to run programmes that address complex and often unseen needs, and the ability to navigate the daily challenges that confront them.
Going deeply within communities to form relationships and supporting initiatives often go unseen, yet are vital. These are the nuts and bolts that are crucial to the machinery of social impact.
THRIVING BENEFICIARIES
Doing philanthropy differently
We use research and insights to deepen our understanding of the sector, and integrate that into our grantmaking strategy to guide funding for critical and unseen needs.

Building Depth In Our Understanding
Learn more
As we work towards systemic change, our philanthropy team has spent the past year meeting with, government agencies, key sector players and businesses to deepen their knowledge of the sector and the wider ecosystems we reside in.
This strengthens our understanding of broader policy shifts and priorities, allowing us to sharpen our grantmaking strategy to build a larger pipeline of organisations and programmes towards systemic change.

Encouraging Innovation Through Prototyping
Learn more
As social needs evolve, there is a greater need to nurture innovative approaches to address the emerging complexities.
However, there aren’t enough grantmakers out there willing to fund and absorb risks that come along with new ideas.
Through the Wonder Arc Fund, we have introduced prototype grants to provide grantee partners with the initial funding to pilot key components of their new ideas to establish a proof of concept for further seed funding.
Each prototype grant also has specified learning objectives to facilitate understanding of the factors of success and key areas of improvements for future iterations.

Harnessing The Strengths Of Different Experts
Learn more
To deepen our impact and understanding of the space, we formed our first Advisory Group (AG) for the Wonder Arc Fund, a working group consisting of experts with diverse experience in the learning sector.
The AG provides strategic guidance and specialised advice to our grantee partners, to guide the effective implementation and success of the fund’s initiatives spanning different topics – programme design, pedagogy and curriculum development, and MEL approaches.
We convened our inaugural get-together session on 24 September 2024, creating space for grantee partners to consult AG members to garner tailored feedback on their programme design, and to explore potential collaborations.

THRIVING BENEFICIARIES
Evidence-informed grantmaking
We continue to rely on research to refresh our understanding of social issues and identify emerging and unseen needs.

Building Better Together: Research study to understand low-wage migrant workers’
needs and aspirations
Learn more
We launched our research report – Building Better Together – on International Migrant’s Day.
Through a mixed-methods approach, this study heard directly from close to 500 migrant workers from the Construction, Maritime, and Process sectors on their needs and aspirations while in Singapore.
The findings will be integrated into our Scaffold Fund strategy in the next few years.

Evaluation Matrix: Further rooting our grant assessments in data and evidence
Learn more
As part of our commitment towards being evidence-informed and impact-driven, we have refined our grant evaluation process, further fleshing out a comprehensive assessment matrix.
This allows us to better assess an organisation and/or programme’s potential, while simultaneously guiding our funds’ MEL approaches.
This matrix will be refined over time as we roll out programmes and adjust to the needs on the ground.
THRIVING BENEFICIARIES
Thriving Communities Initiative
The Thriving Communities Initiative (TCI) is a place-based philanthropic approach by Majurity to build thriving and connected communities.
By leveraging our dynamic ecosystem of donors and partners, TCI allows us to bring our strengths in galvanising resources and capabilities directly into a local community – Chong Pang – as our first impact site to address critical societal challenges,
We hope to create opportunities where residents themselves from diverse backgrounds are enabled to take ownership of solutions, building social capital and reconnecting isolated groups.
These efforts reduce dependencies of communities on service providers, growing the community’s capacity to co-create solutions that benefit not just themselves but also many others in their neighbourhood.
We achieve this by:

GOING DEEPLY
within communities to form relationships, asset map, and seed collaboration with different actors in the community

PHILANTHROPIC GIVING
to kickstart and support ground up initiatives that are either resident-led, or owned by other community actors

CATALYSING BROADLY
by sharing our learnings with the sector to advocate for place-based solutions, and to increase capability in community development work

ONE Yishun
Learn more
ONE Yishun was co-created with residents in Chong Pang interested in contributing to and/or are leading ground-up initiatives within the neighbourhood.
The group chat surfaced community concerns and aspirations, and Majurity helped to connect them to resources to address them.
For instance, two neighbours leading separate food distribution drives were connected through ONE Yishun, and have shared their resources with one another to improve the support provided to over 100 residents in their blocks.

Partnerships with Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society
Learn more
Leveraging the networks we have built, we connected Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society with our grantee partner Ray of Hope to reimagine the living conditions for 10 Chong Pang families residing in 1- and 2-room rental housing.
The living spaces were redesigned by students from Temasek Polytechnic, and were fulfilled by funds raised from the crowdfunding efforts of Ray of Hope.

with Skillseed
Learn more
Every individual has a story to tell. We have been working closely with Skillseed to design community resilience trails for residents eager to share their memories and experiences in Chong Pang.
The community resilience trails have been designed in a way to offer flexible employment to residents who face employment challenges, while simultaneously tapping on their assets and knowledge to share the essence of Chong Pang.
